Ardvreck Castle, Loch Assynt

This is Ardvreck Castle, built on a small peninsula in Loch Assynt, in Sutherland.

It's a truly magnificently desolate place in November/December time when I was there - but that's exactly what we were looking for. I really love that part of the world (and not just for the desolation and the photography); the landscapes are incredible, and it's a very interesting part of Scotland - and so remote. It takes longer to drive from Edinburgh up there than it does to drive from Edinburgh to London - and I know which direction I'd rather go (most of the time)!

I took a lot of pictures of this castle, and this definitely won't be the last one I post.

  • Really like this, Tom. Also your recent ones of the gorge. Nice subtle tones in this one of Ardvreck Castle. Looking fwd to more of your photos next year. Happy Christmas and all the best.
