Downtown

This is a view of downtown Dubai as seen from the observation platform at Burj Kalifa, the tallest building in the world.

It was very high up.

Eagle eyed visitors might recognise where I got the idea for the processing for this shot...

  • This is just a beautiful sight, it's amazing how good a night shot like this can look so great in black and white, normally a prefer color over black and white when it come to night shots like this, but you have really made this one seem alive!

  • You're back Tom! Great shot. Would love to see the view from up there - I guess you didn't take the stairs. I'm not eagle eyed enough though?

    Nik @ 18 June 2011
  • Nope, definitely didn't take the stairs! The observation platform is on the 124th floor, and the speed at which the floor numbers passed by in the lift was really quite insane.

  • Another terrific shot. Shows a lack a density relative to the height of most the buildings. Sprawling metropolis. Anyway great shot. Love the point of view and the black and white that gets sort of hazy toward the top of the frame.
